​The 2014 Australian Film Critics Association Film & Writing Awards
were held at ACMI on Saturday March 1st.



The wonderful evening was hosted by actor-comedian Ben McKenzie who charmed the association by reciting a self-penned review of Uwe Boll's Alone In The Dark in the hopes of being accepted as a member.

Ivan Sen's outback noir, Mystery Road swept through most of the major categories and the film's star Aaron Pedersen was present to accept all the awards.



AFCA also announced the winners of their annual Writing Awards judged by a jury comprising of:

Alan Finney – Chair of the Australian Film Institue (AFI)

Jan Epstein – Film Critic and former Chair of AFCA

Kristian Connelly – General Manager, Cinema Nova

Paul Harris – Film Critic, Host of RRR's Film Buff's Forecast, Director of St Kilda Film Festival



Ivan Hutchinson Award for Writing on Australian Cinema.

"Launching The Rocket: Beyond the Typical Australian Film."




Award for Writing on non-Australian cinema.


Scott MacLeod
